Year 00: Checkup at NUH

ting yee brought deng yun to NUH for both of their check ups. deng yun was still sick, but he should get better in the days to come. ting yee was fine, and almost back to normal.

as for me, i will be starting my journey to melbourne for 10 days to help out and attend my brother's wedding. so i said farewell, for now, to both ting yee and deng yun.

and for ting yee and deng yun, they will be staying in her auntie's place during my absence in singapore.

Year 00: 1st haircut, 1st sarong usage and 1st bus ride!

deng yun had his first haircut today! also, ting yee used the sarong that my mother bought, to carry deng yun for the first time. with that, she brought him on deng yun's first bus ride to forum along orchard road to "snip his curls"!

not to be outdone, i also used the sarong to carry deng yun on our way back home and i loved it!

back home, the sarong became deng yun's cloak... as a jedi:

Year 00: Deng Yun is discharged!

deng yun was discharged from NUH this afternoon, with the help of ting yee's auntie. his condition had improved greatly, but we still had to administer the asthma spray daily from now on.

back home, he was as active as usual:

Year 00: 2nd Day in NUH

deng yun was showing signs of improvement today. but he still need the machine to suck out his phlegm.

apart from that, he was also given the "asthma spray" for babies to clear his lungs so as to ease his breathing. we had to use the "asthma spray" for until deng yun is feeling better.

because i took urgent leave today and not tomorrow, i went back home alone. ting yee stayed in NUH tonight.

Year 00: Deng Yun IS definitely sick!

in the early morning, deng yun's coughing got worse, so ting yee and i brought him to the hospital (NUH), and he was admitted for observation. he got his phlegm sucked out by a machine more than once during his stay in the hospital.

later, the doctors told us that deng yun was diagnosed with bronchitis. it is not a major illness, just a form of cold for babies.

so, both of us stayed in the hospital overnight to look after him. actually, i was only there to support ting yee. she was the one who really looked after deng yun.

Year 00: Deng Yun IS sick!

in the early morning, deng yun started having phlegm, stuffed nose, and mild coughing! then he was better throughout the day. i even put him in the rocker to calm him down:

Year 00: Deng Yun's one month check-up

ting yee and her auntie went to hospital for deng yun's one month check-up. they found that he had a mild stuffy nose.

Year 00: "Argoo"

ting yee told me today that she called deng yun "argoo" four times, and he replied her "argoo" every time!

Year 00: 1 month old!

yes! today was the actual one month old of our baby avatar, deng yun! not much celebration today though, because of yesterday's celebration.

anyway, he wasn't too much trouble in the early morning, only the usual: eat and poo. then ting yee bathed him all by herself:


next, we opened up all his presents from yesterday and one of them (the cow "bell" at the top of his right hand) became a permanent fixture to his cot:


at the time of writing this, we were feeding deng yun and preparing to go to bed. let us hope this would be a more peaceful night.

Year 00: Full-month celebration gathering

first of all, many thanks to all the people who came to deng yun's full-month celebration. without your support, deng yun's full-month won't be a success! all of you are the best! and a special thank you to baby avatar's number 1 fan: haizan! (ting yee's colleague)

today was also the day the confinement lady took her leave. she was an excellent lady who not only cooked for and looked after ting yee and deng yun, but also did all the housework. for our next baby (if any), we will definitely look her up again.

the food from Select Catering was very good, so much so that we had plenty of leftovers. in addition, we also had a few more badtz maru cupcakes:


so, it is just ting yee, deng yun and me in our household. may all the powers in the world assist us in the adventures we are all going to have from now on...

Year 00: Delivery of full-month celebration cupcakes and red eggs Part 2

we started off the day by driving to ting yee's work place to deliver cupcakes as well as to see the lactation nurse. then we headed off to my work place to deliver the remaining cupcakes. this was the Suzuki Swift that we drove in:


and because i wanted to tidy up our place for tomorrow's full-month celebration gathering, we drove to Ikea to buy a TV stand. thus, when we went back home, we were moving the things from our bedroom to the entertainment room and vice versa. this was to accomodate more people in our place.

then during one of the feeds, deng yun said "ar-goo"! so for the rest of the night, both ting yee and the confinement were calling him "ar-goo"!

although he did not say "ar-goo" in this vide, he did mutter something:

Year 00: Delivery of full-month celebration cupcakes and red eggs Part 1

today was a day of travelling for us! after our supplier, Yummyumkins! delivered cupcakes to us and after renting a car as well as having a quick dinner at home, ting yee and i proceeded to deliver cupcakes and red eggs to all of our close relatives.

since everyone did not stay close to one another, we had to travel practically round Singapore for our delivery. good thing for the rented car. although it was very tiring for both of us, it was worth the effort for our baby avatar!

Year 00: Full-Month Dinner with close relatives

tonight was the first time deng yun went to a restaurant! we carried deng yun along with his new "moses" basket to the restaurant and met up with all our close relatives (my dad and mum, ting yee's dad and auntie, my two aunties, ting yee's three uncles and two aunties). the confinement lady was there to help out too.

during the dinner, deng yun cried for milk and when he pooed. other than that, he did not make a big fuss. i noticed he was rather well-behaved when he was outside. anyway, here's a treat for you fans out there; baby in a basket:

Year 00: New "Moses" Basket

again, deng yun's grandparents (my dad and mum) showered him with more gifts! this time, they bought a brand new "moses" basket, a sarong carrier and some clothes. they were not cheap, because they were bought at Robinsons!

Year 00: First nail cutting!

deng yun had his first nail-cutting done by his mummy, on his right hand that is! besides that, his grandparents (my dad and mum) came again to see him. my dad even fed deng yun for the first time!

this time, deng yun was cranky before they left. this was because he pooed!

Year 00: Deng Yun celebrated Grandma's Birthday

deng yun celebrated his grandma's (my mum's) birthday for the first time! my parents and two aunties came over to our place and we had a cake-cutting ceremony. also, deng yun's grandfather (my dad) bought him a brand new baby pram.

because of all these, deng yun was so happy that he did the "riverdance":

Year 00: 3 weeks old!

it was a day full of activities for deng yun! first, ting yee told me he pooed all over the cot while she and the confinement lady were changing his diapers! and second, he pooed again after ting yee wiped his backside!

then, deng yun's grandparents (my dad and mum) visited him in the late afternoon. deng yun's grandfather had just arrived from Hong Kong to purposedly see his grandson!

and as usual, deng yun was cranky AFTER his grandparents left!

anyway, this is what i call a satisfied baby:

Year 00: Baby Language

ting yee and i watched two DVDs about how to identify "baby talk". it was the Dunstan Baby Language Program, as described on the website: www.dunstanbaby.com

apparently, using a set of different "words" or sounds, babies can communicate to their parents what they want! i felt that this would be very useful to ting yee after the confinement lady finishes her job in about one week and half weeks time.

therefore, from now on, we will hopefully try and identify what exactly deng yun wants. this could very be the solution to our impending sleeping problem.

Year 00: Mummy bathed Deng Yun all by herself!

yes, ting yee managed to bathe deng yun all by herself for the first time today, without the confinement lady's help. and at night, deng yun could actually be seen holding his own milk bottle:

Year 00: Getting more active and cranky

for the past two days, deng yun had been rather active, and at the same time, cranky. but he was also visited by relatives: ting yee's two aunties (saturday) and my four cousins and their families (sunday).

and on both ocassions, deng yun was very quiet and sleeping. and when the visitors left, he started to be more active and cranky! check out his "active" photo on saturday:

Year 00: 2 weeks old!

deng yun was 2 weeks old today! now, he was really getting into a routine of eat, sleep, poo and pee. and he opened his eyes more regularly whenever he was awake. also, during feeding time, you could see that his hands were trying to hold onto the bottle!

yesterday, deng yun was visited by his grandfather (ting yee's dad) for the first time. then about 2 hours later, deng yun was visited by his grandmother (my mom).

Year 00: Rather normal from now on

i did not post anything yesterday because i was so tired that i slept at 9pm! anyway, from now on, baby avatar's adventures will be as per normal: eat, poo, pee, cry, etc...

well today, i changed deng yun's diapers all by myself. but before i could put on a new diaper, he peed on the changing mat and his bed! ting yee and i then had to wipe away pee from his skin and changed the bedsheet.

then, if that was not enough, after ting yee fed him, he pooed again!
