Year 00: First time Deng Yun stood up by himself!

yes! today was the first time deng yun stood up all by himself! and both ting yee and i were there to witness it! after many attempts, deng yun stood up by himself for 3 times today, and we only managed to record the one that he stood for the shortest time:

Year 00: First time Deng Yun was clapping to music!

when i went to the infant care centre to pick up deng yun, the teacher there put him in a children's play house.  but he could just hold on to the railing and stood there, shaking his body:

then back home, deng yun was "dancing" to the music that was played from the "time machine".  i thought of trying to see if deng yun could react to the song "if you're happy and you know it..." and he did! he was clapping and i sang the song! check out the video here:

Year 00: 11 months old!

another month already? deng yun was 11 months old today! one more month to the big 1 year old! but before that, check out his adventures today from playing with books:

Year 00: Meeting... to be fed!

in the morning, when i dropped off deng yun, i took a picture of him sitting amongst the other babies, getting ready to be fed!

Year 00: First time Deng Yun celebrated Ting Yee's birthday!

we rented a car and stayed over at Grand Mecure Roxy Hotel @ Marine Parade to celebrate ting yee's birthday today!  the hotel even provided a cot for deng yun but we did not let him use it at night.  we went shopping at Parkway Parade and had dinner with my mother at Hougang Mall.  we also ate ting yee's birthday cake:

after dropping my mother off, we went to Giant supermarket at Tampines to buy groceries.  back at the hotel, deng yun was sleeping between ting yee and me.  this was the second time he slept with us on the same bed:

Year 00: Follow up doctor's appointment

a while back, deng yun was constantly sick, running nose, cough, and what have you.  but as of today, he was fine!  anyway, we still brought him over to KK Hospital as per the appointment made back in March 09.  his height was 75.5cm and weight was 11.075kg.

Year 00: Red all over Deng Yun!

deng yun had red all around him:

don't worry, the red i was referring to was not blood.  they were word cards! these are the cards from Your Baby Can Read DVD series.  apparently, deng yun seemed to enjoy holding and throwing them, rather than read them.

today was the first mother's day that ting yee celebrated as a mother herself.  check out this email to her:

Year 00: First movie outing for Deng Yun

today was the first time deng yun stepped into a cinema and watched, of all the movies in the world, the new Star Trek movie!

although ting yee was apprehensive at first, it was agreed after a few scenes that deng yun be brought out of the cinema during fight scenes.  thankfully, we sat at the last row which was near the exit.

then we met up with ting yee's sister and had dinner at a japanese buffet restaurant where i literally ate till i poo-ed...

at the infant care centre, deng yun's teachers made some craft work for mother's day.  check them out:

while we were having dinner at home, ting yee realised that deng yun could clap his hands consciously! he did it while playing in the jumperoo.  check out the video:

Year 00: Educational books for Deng Yun

the educational books were delivered to our doorstep yesterday and i set up the whole set, including the bookcase today.  check it out:

the bookcase is still quite empty, but i foresee it will be filled with all deng yun's books!

Year 00: Hid and Found!

while playing with deng yun on the bed, i hid one of his books underneath my pillow.  deng yun saw that and went to lift up the pillow to retrieve the book:

Year 00: Sleeping while getting his diapers changed!

because i had to take deng yun to infant care in the morning, i had to pick him up from his sleep and change his diapers.  the amazing thing was that he was sleeping the whole time i was changing him!

at the infant care centre, they had to check everyone's temperature in order for them to enter the place.  it was that strict now because of the H1N1 flu outbreak.  also, today, deng yun had officially "upgraded" to a section for older babies!

Year 00: Celebrated Mother's Day in advance

in the morning, deng yun was playing by himself in the cot with his "time machine":

then in the afternoon, we went to the new mother's exhibition today and bought many essential stuff for deng yun.  but the most expensive items were a set of educational books which cost $1,468!  normally, we won't spend this kind of money, but because it was fully paid by my father (via a cheque he sent to me which was meant for deng yun), we did!

then we celebrated mother's day today by having Sakae Sushi sushi buffet for dinner with my mother, ting yee and deng yun.

Year 00: Deng Yun trying to stand

after picking deng yun up from the infant care centre, ting yee and i were playing with him on the bed, and then we realised that he was trying to stand up on more than one occasion!  check out deng yun's attempts to stand for like 1 second:
